The cell is a room. "The cell walls are of gray stone and a small barred window leads outside to freedom. A silvery air vent runs right above the window[if the toilet hole is not handled] and there's a hole in the floor under it in the corner, apparently to be used as a toilet[end if]. [if the light bulb is part of the electrical wire and the electrical wire is not pulled out]A light bulb hangs from the ceiling, illuminating the cell[otherwise if the light bulb is part of the electrical wire and the electrical wire is pulled out]A light bulb attached to an electrical wire illuminates the cell[otherwise if the player has the light bulb]The light bulb you carry illuminates the cell[otherwise]The light bulb illuminates the cell[end if]. [if the trapdoor is unrevealed]A simple rug is on the floor[otherwise if the trapdoor is open][paragraph break]There's an open trapdoor on the floor[otherwise][paragraph break]There's a closed trapdoor on the floor[end if]." Rule for printing the name of a room: do nothing. [this is mainly for UNDO] Rule for listing nondescript items of the cell: say "On the floor "; list the contents of the cell, as a sentence, tersely, listing marked items only, prefacing with is/are, including contents and giving brief inventory information; say "." The cell is dark. Rule for printing the description of a dark room: say "The moonlight gives dim illumination to the front part of the cell, leaving the opposite wall completely in the dark. There's [if the light bulb is part of the wire]an unlit light bulb hanging from the ceiling, and [end if]a heavy steel door on the wall opposite to the barred window, but the room is otherwise featureless. You can barely make out the outlines of some ominous shapes in one dark corner of the cell.[if a handled thing is in the cell][line break]The light is just enough for you to see [the list of handled things in the cell] on the floor.". Instead of smelling the cell: say "The air smells weird, like the cell has never been cleaned." Instead of listening to the cell: say "The cell is ominously silent." |
