The nails are a part of the player. They are plural-named.
Instead of touching something with the nails:
try touching the noun.
Instead of cutting the nails when the player can see the nail scissors:
say "The scissors seem to be so dull you can't cut your nails with them.[if the creature is present][line break]'Hey!' you exclaim. [The creature] pretends to not notice." instead.
