A miscitem is a kind of thing. A miscitem is never conversable.

The deck chairs from the Titanic are a miscitem. They are plural-named. The creature response is "'You have deck chairs from the [italic type]Titanic[roman type] in your sack?'[paragraph break][c]Yes, but you can't have them,[c] [the creature] replies. 'I haven't arranged them yet.'".

The brass lamp is a miscitem. The creature response is "'Where did you get the brass lamp?' you ask [the creature]. [c]I traded it with a grue,[c] it says. 'He was very anxious to get rid of it.'".

The Grail is a miscitem. The indefinite article is "The". The creature response is "'Can I have the Grail?' you ask. [c]No. It belongs in a museum,[c] [the creature] replies."

The electric mixer is a miscitem. The creature response is "'The electric mixer could come in handy,' you suggest.[paragraph break][c]I can hardly see how,[c] [the creature] doubts. 'Besides for safety reasons I'm not allowed to give it to anyone who might try to lick the beaters while it's running.'".

The severed arm is a miscitem. The creature response is "'Do you really have a severed arm in there?' you ask and try to catch a glimpse inside the bag.[paragraph break][c]Sure. It belonged to the last guy who touched my trading bag,[c] the creature says and grins. You slowly back away from the sack."

The battering ram is a miscitem. The creature response is "'Hey, I could use the battering ram!' you venture.[paragraph break][c]Sorry, it's one of those key fob models. Not much of use I suppose.'".

The Jack Mills novel is a miscitem. Understand "book" as the Jack Mills novel. The creature response is "'Oh, you have[if the encyclopedia is handled] other[end if] books too?' you ask.[paragraph break][c]Yeah, but you wouldn't like this one. It doesn't have any pictures,' [the creature] says."

The cake is a miscitem. The creature response is "'I would sure like some cake,' you utter optimistically. [c]The cake was a lie,' [the creature] replies."

The MacGuffin is a miscitem. The creature response is "'Could I see the MacGuffin?'[paragraph break][c]That would totally defeat its purpose, don't you think?' [the creature] replies."

The antique vase is a miscitem. The creature response is "'Can I trade something for the antique vase?'[paragraph break]The creature shakes its head. [c]That's out of the question. It's brand new!'".

The teleporter is a miscitem. Understand "teleport" as the teleporter. The creature response is "'Could I use the teleporter to get out of here?'[paragraph break][The creature] looks in the bag. [c]It does have a tag that says [']Scotty['], but I'm almost sure that it doesn't mean you. Anyway, it's broken.'".

The orange garden hose is a miscitem. Understand "gardenhose" as the orange garden hose. The creature response is "'I'll trade you something for the garden hose.'[paragraph break][c]Sorry, it's been chewed through.'"

The Internet is a miscitem. The creature response is "'What's an Internet?' you ask.[paragraph break]'It's just a series of tubes,' [the creature] responds."

To say rummage through misc items:
    choose a random row from the Table of Miscellaneous Sack Items;
    let miscitem1 be the miscellanea entry;
    now miscitem1 is conversable;
    blank out the whole row;
    choose a random row from the Table of Miscellaneous Sack Items;
    let miscitem2 be the miscellanea entry;
    now miscitem2 is conversable;
    blank out the whole row;
    say "Let's see... [a miscitem1]... no... [a miscitem2]... hmm...[run paragraph on]".
