The catapult-arm is part of the trebuchet. It is not conversable. The printed name is "[trebuchet] arm". The description is "A huge wooden beam works as [the trebuchet]'s arm[if the catapult-arm is tensioned]. [The trebuchet] has been readied and the arm is down[end if][if the dinner plate is part of the catapult-arm]. The dinner plate is welded into the arm[end if]." Understand "arm" and "shaft" and "catapult/catapult's/trebuchet/trebuchet's arm/shaft" as the catapult-arm. The catapult-arm can be tensioned or free. It is free. Instead of inserting something into the catapult-arm: try putting the noun on the catapult-arm. Instead of putting something on the catapult-arm: if the noun is the dinner plate: try inserting the dinner plate into the catapult-arm; otherwise if the dinner plate is part of the trebuchet: say "(on the plate)[command clarification break]"; if the catapult-arm is tensioned: try putting the noun on the dinner plate; otherwise: say "[The trebuchet] isn't loaded. You can't even reach the arm now."; otherwise: say "It's missing a cup where to put things. The arm itself can't hold things." Instead of inserting the dinner plate into the catapult-arm: if the catapult-arm is free: say "You might be able to wedge the plate in [the trebuchet]'s arm, but you can't reach it while the thing is not loaded and the arm is high up near the ceiling."; otherwise: if something is on the dinner plate: say "(first removing [the list of things on the dinner plate])[command clarification break]"; repeat with x running through the list of things on the dinner plate: now the player carries x; say "You wedge the plate into [the trebuchet]'s arm. It looks like it should hold nicely."; now the dinner plate is part of the catapult-arm. Instead of putting something on the dinner plate when the dinner plate is part of the catapult-arm and the number of things on the dinner plate > 0: say "You decide it's better to shoot only one thing at the time." [ The following doesn't work, and I have absolutely no idea why. To decide whether a thing (called x) is fragile: if x is the drinking glass: decide yes; if x is the light bulb: decide yes; if x is the whiskey bottle: decide yes; if x is the potion vial: decide yes; decide no.] Before putting something on the dinner plate when the dinner plate is part of the catapult-arm: if the catapult-arm is free: say "You can't reach the plate before [the trebuchet] is readied."; stop the action; otherwise if the noun is the drinking glass or the noun is the light bulb or the noun is the whiskey bottle or the noun is the potion vial: say "[The noun] would break, and you don't wish to break it."; stop the action; otherwise: continue the action. Instead of entering the trebuchet when the dinner plate is part of the catapult-arm: try entering the dinner plate. Instead of entering the catapult-arm when the dinner plate is part of the catapult-arm: try entering the dinner plate. Instead of entering the dinner plate when the dinner plate is part of the catapult-arm: if the catapult-arm is free: say "You can't reach the plate now that [the trebuchet] is not readied and the plate is high up near the ceiling."; otherwise: if the guard is in the cell: make the guard leave; if something is on the dinner plate: say "(first removing [the list of things on the dinner plate])[command clarification break]"; repeat with x running through the list of things on the dinner plate: now x is in the cell; say "You climb on the dinner plate and ponder the situation. '[if the tongue is numb]Eh ee.. I eeh omeih heavy o bhih owh eh ah. Oeih heavy ah ah[otherwise]Let's see... I need something heavy to bring down the wall. Something heavy and large[end if]...'[paragraph break]You hear [the creature] whirr and click with its mouth. [c]I wonder what this does,' it says.[paragraph break]You glance down and see that it fiddles with [the trebuchet]'s release lever. '[if the tongue is numb]Oh[otherwise]Don't[end if]...' you have time to say before it yanks the lever fully back."; pause the cutscene; say "'YYYAAAAEEEOOUU' *crash*[line break]"; pause the cutscene; say "You have only a faint recollection of what happens next: there seems to be a lot of screaming and hassle around you. And sharp pain, well, everywhere. Eventually you find yourself back in the cell, still a bit dazzled.[paragraph break][c]Wow, that was spectacular,' [the creature] says. 'You brought almost the entire wall down. Too bad you weren't conscious enough to make much use of the situation.'[paragraph break]'The [key screaming communists]Screaming Communists[endkey screaming communists] on the other hand were very efficient. They built the wall again and removed [the trebuchet] to prevent any further [']accidents['],' it continues."; now the description of the walls is "The Screaming Communists have rebuilt the wall after you crashed through it."; mark the escape down as "catapulting yourself through the wall"; remove the trebuchet from play; |
