Chapter Thermostat

The thermostat is in the Entrance. It is fixed in place. "You spot a thermostat mounted on the wall next to the doors." The description is "The thermostat has only two settings: warm and cool. It's currently in the '[setting of the thermostat]' position."

A temperature is a kind of value. Temperatures are warm and cool.

The thermostat has a temperature called the setting. The setting of the thermostat is cool.

Instead of setting the thermostat to "cool/cold":

if the setting of the thermostat is cool:

say "The thermostat is already on the 'cool' position.";

otherwise:

say "You turn the thermostat to 'cool'.";

now the setting of the thermostat is cool.

Instead of setting the thermostat to "warm/heat":

if the setting of the thermostat is warm:

say "The thermostat is already on the 'warm' position.";

otherwise:

say "You turn the thermostat to 'warm'.";

now the setting of the thermostat is warm.

Instead of setting the thermostat to:

say "The thermostat doesn't have that setting."

Instead of setting the thermostat to when the bouncer is in the Entrance:

say "'Hey! Keep your hands off that, please,' the bouncer shouts. 'Please don't meddle with the thermostat, little miss. There are so many customers tonight that it would get quite hot in here without the cooling.'"

Instead of turning the thermostat:

say "You can set the thermostat to cool or warm."

Instead of switching on the thermostat:

try turning the thermostat.

Instead of switching off the thermostat:

try turning the thermostat.
