Chapter 1 - Applying
Applying it to is an action applying to two things.
Understand "apply [something] to/on [something]" as applying it to.
Understand the command "smear" as "apply".
Check applying to:
say "[We] can't apply [regarding the noun][them] to anything." instead.
Does the player mean applying something to the noun: [1]
it is very unlikely.
Note
[1]. Makes sure the parser doesn't automatically substitute the noun as the second noun, which leads to things like >APPLY LIPSTICK (to the lipstick). We'll do this for all verbs that require two nouns and don't have a single-noun counterpart.
