The flux capacitor is a device. It is not conversable. It is bulky and useful. It can be thingamabob. It is thingamabob. It can be unpowered, powered or broken. It is unpowered. The description is "The [flux capacitor] has a window on one side where you can see some tubes in Y shape inside. Red labels are pasted all over the device, the one on top saying 'FLUX CAPACITOR'. The two dials are labeled 'POWER' and 'SPEED' and there's a pin with a picture of a lightning bolt next to it. It is very heavy.". The printed name is "cube-like thingamabob". The creature response of the flux capacitor is "[if the flux capacitor is broken]'Uh.. What just happened?'[paragraph break]'Dunno. You ran a few laps down the trapdoor, vanished and left a trace of fire behind you. A couple of seconds later you appeared here with smoke rising from your ears.'[otherwise]'What the [bowdler] is this?'[paragraph break]'It's a... well, you find out yourself,' [the creature] replies." After examining the flux capacitor when the flux capacitor is powered: say "The tubes inside are blinking bright white light and the device hums silently."; continue the action. Report listening to the powered flux capacitor: say "It hums silently." The printing of the flux capacitor is "The label on the top says 'FLUX CAPACITOR', the two dials on it are labeled 'POWER' and 'SPEED'. The label on the window says 'SHIELD EYES FROM LIGHT'." Understand "thing" and "cube/cube-like/cubelike" and "cube like" and "thingamabob/thingamajig" and "large" as the flux capacitor. Understand "device" and "tape/tapes" and "label/labels" and "tube/tubes" and "y" and "shape/shapes/y-shape/yshape" and "window" and "glass" as the flux capacitor. After examining or reading the thingamabob flux capacitor: now the printed name of the flux capacitor is "flux capacitor"; now the flux capacitor is not thingamabob. Instead of switching on the flux capacitor: say "[if the flux capacitor is broken]The lightning strike turned it into a charred piece of scrap metal. It will never flux again[otherwise]There doesn't seem to be any obvious way to turn the thing on. It doesn't have any switches or buttons[end if][if the flux capacitor is unpowered]. Besides the power dial points currently at zero[otherwise if the flux capacitor is powered], but it does hum and blink its lights very cheerfully[end if]." Should the game choose when comparing the window against the flux capacitor: it is a good choice. Should the game choose when comparing the glue remover against the flux capacitor: it is a good choice. Should the game choose when comparing the glass against the flux capacitor: it is a good choice. Test flux with "test c/trade rug/get lamp". Instead of touching the flux capacitor with the electrical wire: try touching the charging pin with the electrical wire. Instead of tying the electrical wire to the flux capacitor: try touching the charging pin with the electrical wire. |
