Rubbing it on is an action applying to one carried thing and one touchable thing.
Understand "rub [something] on [something]" as rubbing it on.
Understand "rub [something] to [something]" as rubbing it on.
Understand the command "smear" as "rub".
Carry out rubbing it on:
say "That's not something you can rub on anything."
